Our Story

A small kitchen with a romantic heart

The atelier

We started in 1994 above a flower shop in the West Village. What began as three friends baking cakes for neighbors has grown into a small bakery devoted to the slow, careful kind of work that modern life rarely makes room for.

Every cake is mixed by hand. Every petal is hand-pressed. We source our flour from a stone mill in upstate New York, our butter from a single dairy in Vermont, and our gold leaf from a fourth-generation gilder in Florence.

We bake to order, never to stock — which is why we ask for two days' notice, and why every cake arrives feeling like it was made for one person, even when it was made for two hundred.

What our guests say

The attention to detail is breathtaking. Unboxing one of our cakes feels like opening a gift from a more elegant era.

Every layer was a love letter to craft — the rose sponge alone was worth the trip. I will never order another wedding cake.

Delivery arrived in silk-lined boxes tied with gold ribbon. Even the unboxing felt like a ceremony.
